If you've never seen a chiropractor before, your first visit can feel a bit daunting. Here's an overview of what to expect during your initial appointment.
When you arrive at the office, you'll meet one-on-one with chiropractor, Dr. Gregory Smith, DC, to discuss the pain or issue you’re experiencing and review your complete health history as well as any recent test results (x-rays, MRIs, etc.). If you haven't completed the New Patient Application, which can be downloaded online, the doctor will ask you to fill it out. After reviewing your information, he will ask you a series of additional questions to find out if chiropractic is the most appropriate path of treatment for you. This “interview” combined with your medical history are important, since they can provide vital clues as to the cause of your issues.
Physical Examination
Following your meeting with Dr. Smith, you will have a physical exam related to your primary complaint. You may be asked to perform a variety of simple exercises or activities to help the doctor learn more about your balance, posture, gait, range of motion, and muscle strength and tone. He may also use his hands to gently examine the alignment of your spine as well as other structures of your body. In some cases, you may be referred for additional testing procedures that can help the doctor develop a clearer understanding of your condition.
Diagnosis
After Dr. Smith has thoroughly reviewed your medical history, exam, and any test results, he will discuss his findings with you and recommend a basic path for treatment. If he determines chiropractic care is not the right choice for your needs, you will be referred to a qualified specialist in the Kings Beach, North Lake Tahoe, Truckee, or Incline Village area.
Initial Treatment
In most cases, you will receive your first chiropractic treatment at the end of your initial visit. The modalities used will depend on the specifics of your treatment plan. You may be surprised to find that you experience positive results even after just one session!
Payment
Payment is required at the time the treatment is rendered.
Fee schedule is based on face-to-face time with Dr. Gregory Smith DC in 20-minute increments. A standard New Patient office visit (40 to 50 minutes) is $100.00 to $195.00 and subsequent intermediate office visits (20 minutes) are $70.00, this fee schedule is subject to additional charges incurred in the performance of additional procedures for a specific treatment time 10 minutes at $45 and 20 minutes at $70.
Personal Injury and other complex issues require a more complete (60 minute) physical exam and treatment that are billed accordingly.
Payment is required at the time for all nutritional supplements received. If you are covered by insurance for chiropractic care, we will provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance.
We are considered out of network with all providers, we do not guarantee payment by insurance companies.
Medicare does not cover initial or follow up exam(s).
Payment is required at the time treatment is rendered.
You are responsible financially for all services rendered.
Insurance
Since we do not have any contracts with insurance companies, we are considered out-of-network. We have strived to keep our value high and our costs as low as possible.
By not being limited by rules of insurance companies we have more flexibility in your treatment.
